TEXT FOR THE BACK COVER

Travellers equipped with sketchbooks have always drawn and written about what they had witnessed and thought. For some artists, their travel sketches proved to be decisive for their artistic evolution and success (Delacroix and Le Corbusier are two good examples).

But we can also draw in our everyday life, as if we were travelling. In fact, this is a good way to begin or to continue our sketching activity. Contemporary authors with different professions and occupations commonly sketch in portable notebooks, which we call Travel Diaries or Graphic Diaries. In this book, 35 Authors tell us about their experience and open up their sketch books for us.

By listening to teachers and students of different school levels, we may understand how the Graphic Diary does constitute a fundamental teaching tool which stimulates the capability of observing and sketching.
